Well, speculation on possible Pokemon that may come with the fifth Generation of Pokemon has been flying around and my friend Aiji (aka MrMurai) has actually made a video with some of his opinions on what should be included and updated.
He has some pretty interesting ideas there.
As for me, I'm not much on speculation for the kind of Pokemon they may bring into the games, but I can at least leave my thoughts.
Evolutions of Previous Pokemon Pachirisu is one of those Pokemon I saw as a kind-of Pikachu-like Pokemon. Not only does it indicate its similarity to Pikachu in the TV show by being caught by a main character of the series, (currently the only capture of an Electric-type by anyone who has been in Ash's group, other than himself) but its name is kind of reminiscent to Pikachu as well. If it was to evolve, I'd expect it to be named something like "Raichirisu" with the possibility of it being part-Flying (flying squirrels) to knock Zapdos off the unique list. (awesome Dis-Quake chances in doubles, too!)
Eevee is the obligatory option for new evolutions. Currently, the only Generation that hasn't included new evolutions for Eevee has been Generation III and I kind of have a feeling that Eevee will have another pair of evolutions to come its way come Generation V. Though I quite honestly can only see the inclusion of two more being possible in a logical setting. A Ground-type and (finally) a Normal-type to make Eevee's line come full-circle and give it a 'natural' evolution.
The other types sound cool and all, (like a Dragon-type, Flying-type or a Poison-type, but I don't really hold any high hopes on those types really working well with the kind of Pokemon they have to work with. Though I'll give credit to those who have made designs of their own for Eevee evolutions that do use the other types. Its just I don't see those working personally.
Others... Qwilfish for one, Farfetch'd, Chatot, Mawile, Sableye, Delcatty, Delibird (maybe?), Corsola, Dunsparce (Dunserpent would be an awesome Normal/Dragon-type, no?) and Girafarig.
Branch Evolutions/Pre-Evolutions Hmm... a little trickier... but I suppose: For baby: Miltank and Tuaros. I've noticed that these are extremely popular among people online for a potential pre-evolution and I'd say I somewhat agree. One I don't agree with though would be a pre-evolution for Pinsir/Heracross. (I've seen people wanting an evolution of Heracross too; don't you think its good enough!?)
Type Combinations
I'm only going to talk about the possible Legendary Trio in this for now, but I honestly think that there should be a trio of Dragons. A Fire-type, Ice-type and Electric-type Dragon would be absolutely awesome, in all honesty.
The one Pokemon I can see getting more Branching evolutions would be Porygon 2, as it has a ton of possibilities. I'd love to see a more defensive evolution from Porygon 2 and maybe a more physically offensive evolution (possibly with Porygon-X and Porygon-Y being the names?)
Those are about all I can think about at the moment, but I'll either edit this entry or make a new one with a kind of compilation of my thoughts. Until then, catch you later.
Pokemon Sunday has been aired and people are talking about the things that were shown. I talked about the Starters already, so I'll jump straight into the actual features of the game that CoroCoro Magazine could only explain and not show.
I think that the change in the battles looks pretty nice. It looks like it will be giving the Pokemon a bit more life than what the previous Generations have done. I wonder, though... will they be making fainting animations or will it just be like before, where the Pokemon just fall off the screen...? Guess we'll have to wait and see, because the Pokemon Sunday episode didn't show what happened after the Starters all fainted from their respective weaknesses...
With that, I'm also looking forward to seeing what the animations of some of my current favourite Pokemon on Black & White will be like.
It also looks like they changed the feel of the city, too. Instead of just being people moving every now and then, or not at all, you've got people going to and fro, and even people moving out of your way.
So far, I think the game looks promising, but I'm mainly looking forward to see what the next new Pokemon to be announced will be like now, since apparently, there will be one in the next few weeks.
Here's something I found a little interesting. Just take a look-- one good look at a place Serebii have listed as "Sky Arrow Bridge" and tell me that doesn't remind you of something.
Pretty interesting, huh?
According to the translator I used, "Hiun" is apparently Japanese for 'bad fortune' or something similar... but of course, I don't claim to know Japanese, so can't actually make full speculation on that point. I just found it interesting, is all...
Well, as every Pokemon fan has been, I've waited the length of time it has taken for them to finally reveal the Starters of Pokemon Black & White. (lol, in typing that, I almost put 'Black & Blue')
I was a little disappointed though, when I saw the silhouettes released and that disappointment followed through into the final product, once the full colour Starters were released.
Tsutaja, the Grass Snake Pokemon I will go out to say that Treecko is a good Pokemon, but they didn't really have to 'replicate' it like they 'kinda did' between Torchic and Chimchar; where they're standard Fire-types to start off with, but turn into Fire/Fighting-types in their following and Final evolution stages. I wasn't, and am still not, a big fan of Chimchar's line, partly for that reason.
I wouldn't be surprised if Tsutaja actually turned out to be a previously scrapped design for Treecko that they brought back, though at the same time, I kind of doubt the possibility...
Pokabu, the Fire Pig Pokemon Pokabu brings something never before seen in a Fire-type Starter line, other than the first evolution of Cyndaquil, Quilava; a quadruped. With the exception of Treecko, its kind of always seems to have been the intention to make Starters of the Grass-type the ones that walk on all-fours, which is okay, I guess. But its always good to change things up a little.
With that, the changing of how a Pokemon stands is really only novelty art; quite honestly, the design isn't that good. Why does it have rabbit ears, for one. That's just really weird...
Mijumaru, the Sea Otter Pokemon This was the one I, deep down, expected to be the Water-type Starter the moment they released the silhouettes of them. It reminds me of Piplup, which is what made me expect it to be so, and unfortunately, I was right... but hey, otters are awesome, right? Except this one. The design looks kind of quirky and the 'shell' pattern on its belly made me think for a second that it was an -actual- shell.
People have actually already started calling it 'Piplup's distant cousin' or other such terms where I've been and I just certainly hope that its final evolution is better.
My Opinion Well. The one I personally like would be Tsutaja, mainly because though it is similar to Treecko, it is the better designed Pokemon of the three. My opinion on the Starters in general is pretty low though, and I'll wait to see what comes of the next update about these Pokemon, in the form of evolutionary forms.
Future Gen. 5 Pokemon Announcements Since I like the designs of Zorua and Zoroark, I'm still holding hope that maybe the other Pokemon in this world have good designs. Again, only time will tell if that's true...
Just a little something I noticed while looking at information that was recently leaked via CoroCoro Magazine's 15th May leaked scans; PokeBeach.com say that the 'Isshu Region' is said to be 'very far away'.
Coupled with the fact that the main characters look a lot more 'plain' than the previous Generations' protagonists and that they are said to be 'older than before' kind of gives me a bit of reason to say that these games of the 5th Generation... could be set in the 'Western world', so to speak. Why do I think that, you ask?
The Characters They look very plain; no blue (or differently-than-natural-coloured) hair, (relatively) normal clothing... its almost like they're trying to say something... Not sure if age would be an indication of a 'Western-based' Region, but I'll mention it anyway; my guess would be the mid- to upper end of the 'teens on age, since no specific ages have been mentioned, I don't think. 15+ is my guess.
Hiun City This is probably the weakest point, since there are many places with big cities, like Tokyo and Hong Kong, but its interesting to see a city that actually has skyscrapers and such in it, being a hand held Pokemon game, and all. Quite possibly... a New York-like location, maybe?
The only real indication it may be a 'Western-based' Region would be in the fact that it is said to be 'very far away', but hey; until further information is released on the games, it can't be proven wrong, can it? We're all free to speculate, after all!
Well, guess this is what I'll randomly do for now. There'll probably not be anything personal going in here, like what I plan to do, etc. but you'll probably see some thoughts on... things. Probably mainly games and such.
So with that, I bid ye farewell. Until my next entry. In about 20 or so minutes.
