Pokemon Black & White: New Pokemon
Well, according to Serebii and PokeBeach, scans of CoroCoro's next magazine have been leaked. These show several new things, including new Pokemon, the new Pokedex and the Professor of the Isshu Region, who is very different from the previous 4. Not only is she female, she's YOUNG. Or. Well. Looks young, at least. Its the first time a female character has been used as the Professor of a main series Pokemon game.
The New Pokemon
Pokemon: Chiramii
Type: Normal
Classification: Chinchilla Pokemon
Ability: Cute Charm/Technician
New Moves: Sweep Slap
This is no doubt going to be the Pokemon that fits into the role that Ratatta, Furret, Zigzagoon and... Bidoof... filled for previous Generations. At first, when I read Serebii's part on the Pokemon, they called it a Mouse Pokemon, of which it isn't; its a Chinchilla! After I'd realised what the Pokemon was actually classified as, I thought it was awesome! Chinchillas are one of my favourite animals! (my family used to own one for a while, actually)
My Comments:
There is some unfortunate information to note, though; it has Technician so should it come with Fake Out and several moves that Ambipom comes with, its highly likely we'll be seeing it as the new Ambipom, should its evolutions (should there be any) have similarly distributed stats. I'm very likely to use this Pokemon when I'm playing through Black & White. Its design is of the best of the Pokemon revealed for the 5th Generation of Pokemon.
Sweep Slap sounds like your basic multi-hit move; this one like Fury Swipes, I'd assume.
Pokemon: Munna
Type: Psychic
Classification: Dream Eater Pokemon
Ability: Forewarn/Synchronise
New Moves: Telekinesis
My Comments:
I don't really have much of an opinion about this Pokemon; its apparently like a pig, but from design, it doesn't look all that amazing. I'm curious to see how this Fifth Generation Drowzee will be if and when it evolves.
Telekinesis sounds like Magnet Rise. So it'll probably be better for Doubles teams, should Munna be fast.
Pokemon: Gear
Type: Steel
Classification: Gear Pokemon
Ability: Plus/Minus
New Moves: Gear Saucer
My Comments:
This is a pretty unimpressive Pokemon, in my opinion. In Pokemon lines, it reminds me of Magneton, but it really reminds me of a Digimon called Hagurumon, despite the fact that they are considerably different. It will more than likely evolve, but I'm not sure into what it will evolve into, if it does.
Gear Saucer basically sounds like a Steel-type Fury Swipes.
Pokemon: Mamepato
Type: Normal/Flying
Classification: Baby Pigeon Pokemon
Ability: Super Luck/Pigeon Heart
New Moves: [ None ]
My Comments:
Finally, a Pokemon that is actually a pigeon! Looking forward to see how this quite obviously 'first Route' Pokemon will evolve. With that, this Pokemon actually gives me more reason to think that it could be western-based, this new Region...
Pidgeon Heart sounds like an interesting ability, but I think Super Luck will be the bigger help (and more widely used by competitive players), dependant on what stats its evolutions have. (could be a more defensive Pokemon, after all)
Pokemon: Hihidaruma
Type: Fire
Classification: Flaming Pokemon
Ability: Encourage
New Moves: [ None ]
My Comments:
This is a pretty weird Pokemon, though I kind of like it for its possibility of becoming a good Fire-type. Though I'm a little dubious as to why there's another Fire-type monkey-like Pokemon. There ARE other Pokemon that can be Fire-types that aren't primates.
Encourage sounds interesting, though. I'll be looking forward to see what that ability does. (as it wasn't listed on Serebii)
Pokemon: Shimama
Type: Electric
Classification: Charged Pokemon
Ability: Lightningrod/Motor Drive
New Moves: Wild Bolt
My Comments:
Shimama looks pretty interesting; kind of like an electric Zebra, or something. This could be like Girafarig, in that it doesn't evolve, but I could be wrong. If it does evolve, I hope it has some awesome evolutions.
Motor drive is probably going to be the more popular ability in competitive play, because Lightningrod would only really be good for Doubles-- IF it is a defensive Pokemon. The ability is kind of wasted on Pokemon like Manectric, who don't really have the defences to take hits, even from resistances.
Pokemon: Meguroko
Type: Ground/Dark
Classification: Desert Crocodile Pokemon
Abilities: Intimidate/Earthquake Spiral
New Moves: [ None ]
My Comments:
Its nice to see another crocodile in there. Interesting to see one that isn't a Water-type. I think this will be a pretty cool Pokemon, in particular its new ability; if it does what it is said to, Earthquake Spiral will most likely make this a popular revenge killer in competitive play, if it has a Speed stat to match.
Well, that's my opinion. Whoever reads this, what do you think? I'd love to get others' thoughts on here about the new Pokemon.
